Cape Town is calling
Cape Town is a beautiful city to visit, and offers a wide range of tourist attractions and activities, as well as world-class shopping and dining. The V&A Waterfront, just a short distance from the conference venue, offers shops, markets, restaurants and cafes, as well as the Two Oceans Aquarium, all in one easy, convenient location. Top tourist attractions in and around Cape Town include:
Right in the heart of Cape Town lies Table Mountain, one of the seven modern natural wonders of the world. Take a cable car to the top for incredible views of the city, the beaches and the Twelve Apostles.
A short ferry trip from Cape Town lies Robben Island. The island was declared a World Heritage Site in 1999, and over the centuries has been used as a prison, a hospital, a mental institution, and a military base. It is most famous for being the prison where Nelson Mandela spent many years.
Kirstenbosch national botanical garden is set against the backdrop of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak, and is home to more than 22 000 indigenous plants. Kirstenbosch is part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.
Breathtaking natural scenery, long-standing cultural heritage, world-class wine and fine cuisine characterise the Cape Winelands region. The wine-growing areas of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek offer many options for wine tasting and fine dining.
