Fred Swaniker

Fred Swaniker is deeply passionate about Africa and believes that the missing ingredient on the continent is good leadership. In line with this, he has successfully founded three organizations that aim to catalyze a new generation of ethical, entrepreneurial African leaders: African Leadership Academy, African Leadership Network, and African Leadership University. Collectively, these institutions aim to groom 3 million leaders for Africa over a 50 year period.

Swaniker has been recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and was listed by Forbes Magazine among the top ten young ‘power men’ in Africa. Fred has an MBA from Stanford Business School, where he was named an Arjay Mill er Scholar, a distinction awarded to the top 10% of each graduating class at the business school. He was born in Ghana but has lived and worked in about 10 different African countries.

Dr Michael Mol

Michael Mol didn’t go for career counseling. As a result, he’s now a medical doctor, an executive producer, presenter, international speaker, business consultant and a founding director of a multi-national company called Hello Doctor. His twitter profile sheds more light: “A husband to one, father to three, friend to few, a stranger to many… but not to God.”

Fifteen years ago, this energetic young trauma doctor carried his charisma from the casualty room over to the small screen and anchored Top Billing, South Africa’s longest running prime time television magazine show, for more than a decade. He spoke to the stars, travelled the world and shared his experiences in a personal and endearing way with a captive audience, scooping up numerous critically acclaimed media awards along the way. He’s garnered accolades for scriptwriting, producing and presenting – most recently a People’s Award for the Best TV Presenter, most popular TV personality and three SAFTA nominations for The Dr Mol Show and Hello Doctor. A former Mr. South Africa, he is also a Red Cross Children’s Champion, a patron of SA Cares for Life and founding trustee of Living Hope.

Michael’s passion for understanding the world around him led him to co-founding the futurist consultancy TomorrowToday, helping individuals and organizations to better understand the way the world works, and trends that will affect us in the future. In particular, Michael has a passion for helping people find significance and purpose – through discovering their innate strengths, and founded the Revolution Group to do just that. He has spoken to leading companies around the world, has been nominated by South Africa’s CEO’s as one of the country’s top business speakers, and was awarded a Hall of Fame Achievement from the National Speakers Association.

In line with his desire for a healthier world, Michael took up the position of CEO of the Sportron International group of companies in 2006 – a group focused on promoting health and wellness through education and new generation nanotech nutritional supplements – but the power of media to bring about positive change would not let him go.

In 2010, he launched SABC 3’s live morning show Expresso, as anchor presenter. Then as Executive Producer and presenter he melded his passion for medicine and media and produced a new TV series called “Hello Doctor” (broadcast as “The Dr Mol Show” for two seasons) which launched in April 2011 with a vision to educate, entertain and inspire South Africans to live their best life, by being the healthiest they can be. Watched by over a million people weekly, the show was part of a bigger vision to create a platform for interactivity that not only educates a wide audience on prevention and health related issues – but one that gives every South African access to personal, affordable and accessible healthcare through direct & immediate access to doctors via their mobile phones.

That vision became a reality through “Hello Doctor” – a mobile healthcare company of which he is a founding director. Hello Doctor’s revolutionary approach to healthcare, using mobile technology to educate and connect people with doctors anytime, anywhere – has spread globally and is operating in several countries in Africa as well as Indonesia. The company’s pioneering approach to solving this healthcare crisis caught the attention of the MMI, who bought a majority stake in the company at the end of 2013. In 2015 Hello Doctor won the Frost & Sullivan Sub Saharan Value Leadership Award for its revolutionary healthcare services.

Michael has been commissioned to write a second book, on the back of his best-selling first book “Your Best Life.” Aside from all the hats he wears, he suffers from an incurable addiction … an insatiable thirst for adrenalin! From sky-diving out of a hot-air balloon, to running the bulls in Pamplona, to scuba diving under an frozen lake, to wing walking on a bi-plane, to surfing the great Zambezi white waters on a body board, to flying to the edge of space in a Russian mig and bungi jumping off the highest bridge in the world …backwards! There’s nothing that he would shrink back from – yet!

Michael resides in Cape Town, South Africa – has been married to Jacqui for 22 years, has three children, Joshua (16), Rachael (13) and Naethan (8) and is no longer on the safe side of 40.
